Answers to common buying questions about Electric Bikes

Electric Bikes Buying FAQs

Match the bike to the complete trip: distance, hills, surface, rider fit, charging access and where it will be stored. Then compare the exact motor configuration, battery capacity, published range conditions, bike weight, tire type, brakes, rack needs and any local class restrictions.

A manufacturer range is a best-case claim, not a guaranteed commute. Rider weight, assist level, throttle use, speed, hills, wind, tire pressure, cargo and temperature can materially reduce it. Plan a first route with a return reserve and verify the product page for the battery and charging details of the exact variant.

In the widely adopted U.S. model, Class 1 is pedal-assist up to 20 mph, Class 2 can use a throttle up to 20 mph, and Class 3 is pedal-assist up to 28 mph. Local law and access rules still control, so confirm the exact configuration and route rules.

Follow the model manual, use the supplied or approved charger, charge on a dry hard surface and stay present. Do not charge when asleep or away from home, and do not use a modified battery or an unverified replacement charger.

Confirm proper assembly and inspect the brakes, tires, handlebar, lights, cables and frame. Learn the assist, display and braking controls in a calm open space before adding traffic, hills, cargo or passengers.
