The Mars 3.0 ships configured as Class 2 by default and supports conversion to Class 1 or Class 3 via the display settings or the Heybike Smart App.

Sixty-five miles is the manufacturer maximum range claim from the 624Wh battery. That figure assumes a 150 lb or lighter rider in the lowest pedal-assist mode on flat pavement with no wind, warm temperatures, and meaningful pedaling input from you.

Realistic range for a 180 lb adult commuting in mid-level torque-sensor pedal assist (PAS-3 of 5) at 18 to 22 mph on rolling pavement lands closer to 30 to 42 miles per charge. Flat commutes in Chicago, Minneapolis, and Miami reach the top of that band. Hill routes in Seattle, San Francisco, and Pittsburgh land near the bottom. The torque-sensor pedal assist on the Mars 3.0 maximizes battery efficiency by delivering only the assist you actually need (vs the Mars 2.0's cadence sensor that delivers fixed assist regardless of rider input). Fat-tire rolling resistance still reduces range vs thinner-tire bikes.

Plan your commute around a 30 to 36 mile usable range with a return reserve. The removable battery is useful for apartment dwellers and office riders. Carry the battery separately for upstairs charging while the 70 lb bike stays in the bike room or garage. Charging takes 5 to 7 hours from empty to full using the 2A 54.6V output charger.
