Velowave Pony Compact Step-Thru Electric Bike

Best for a rider who wants a low step-through mount and has garage, shed or other ground-level storage.

Velowave's current guide is 5 ft 0 in to 6 ft 1 in. Use it as a starting point, then consider reach, saddle adjustment and your ability to manage the bike's published weight.

Choose another option if you need daily stair carry, a verified model-specific certification record or a guaranteed route range.

Velowave lists a 750W Bafang geared hub motor, 1000W peak output and 80 Nm (59 lb-ft) maximum torque. Those are manufacturer specifications, not StreetRides hill or acceleration tests.

It also lists a cadence sensor and left thumb throttle. The current product page says 25 mph, while a legacy specs page retains other speed wording. No class or route-access conclusion is made from that conflict.

Hydraulic discs, a Shimano 7-speed drivetrain, front suspension and 20 x 4.0 Kenda tires describe the published configuration. Verify state and local e-bike rules before riding.

Velowave publishes a removable 48V 15Ah, 750Wh LG-cell battery.

It claims 40+ miles by pedal and 25+ miles by throttle. Those figures depend on rider, grade, load, temperature, speed and assist, so plan around your real route rather than a maximum claim.

The published 48V 2A charger is stated to reach 80 percent in four hours and full charge in eight hours. The manufacturer does not publish a replacement-battery part number or retail price. Terrain sets your real range: flat commutes in Chicago, Dallas, and Minneapolis reach the top of the claim, while hill routes in Seattle, San Francisco, or Pittsburgh land near the bottom.

Velowave lists front and rear hydraulic disc brakes, a headlight and a front reflector. These are published equipment details, not StreetRides stopping or visibility tests.

No model-specific UL 2849, UL 2271, ANSI or IP record was found in Velowave's published material. StreetRides does not borrow a certificate from another Velowave model.

Confirm any building, insurance or employer requirement before purchase and verify state and local rules for the configuration you intend to ride.

Velowave lists the bike, charger, battery, headlight, pedals, reflector, tools and fasteners in the box. Plan basic assembly plus brake, tire, fastener and shifting checks before the first ride.

The current Velowave help center lists a Pony owner manual and a Pony assembly video. That is a useful starting point, not a promise of local shop service.

The latest dealer list reports 25 to 35 Pony units overall, but Red Black 2 and Seafoam Green 0 remain the color-level plan. Carrier package weight, local service coverage and replacement-battery price are not confirmed.

Pony makes sense when easy mounting and compact fat-tire confidence matter more than carrying the bike upstairs. Its published motor, battery and front-suspension configuration are substantial for a compact layout.

The compromise is ownership weight. At 79.4 lb net, this is not a casual lift, and the published range is conditional rather than a route promise.

Red Black is the only color currently planned at 2. Seafoam Green remains at 0. If you need a certificate, carrier weight or local-service commitment, get those exact records first.
