M1 is for an experienced off-road rider who specifically wants mid-drive torque at the crank area for steep, technical terrain. It also suits someone who can store and work on a 159 lb vehicle at ground level and transport it with motorcycle-capable equipment.

It is poor value for flat casual riding. GTS X22 costs $2,400 less and still offers a 72V system. X21 Max is 53 lb lighter. M1 earns its price when the 50Ah battery, four-piston brakes and mid-drive layout solve real terrain demands, not when the goal is simply owning the largest number.

EKX publishes 10,000W rated output, 16,800W peak output, 560 N.m of torque and up to 70 mph. Mid-drive placement changes power delivery and weight balance compared with a hub motor. It also raises drivetrain and service consequences under hard use.

Use reduced power while learning the bike. Acceleration, traction and braking change with surface, rider position, battery state and setup. A 70 mph ceiling demands long sight lines and motorcycle-level judgment. It has no place on a shared path or casual neighborhood route.

The 72V 50Ah removable pack is about 3,600Wh, twice the calculated capacity of X21 Max or TX1. EKX claims up to 93 miles. That capacity supports longer sessions, but the 16.8kW peak system can also consume energy quickly at high output.

EKX publishes an 8A charger and a five-to-eight-hour charge window. High-capacity charging deserves a dry, ventilated and supervised location. Inspect the large pack, mount and connectors after impact or hard trail use. Confirm the replacement-pack process before purchase because this is a central part of the M1's cost.

M1's 70 mph claim is outside every ordinary e-bike class. Treat it as an off-road electric motorcycle. Use only on private property or motorized routes that explicitly permit it, and verify registration, licensing, insurance, helmet and land-manager requirements before riding.

Four-piston hydraulic brakes provide the strongest published braking hardware in this group, but condition and technique still control stopping distance. Inspect brakes, rotors, tires, wheels, steering, suspension, drivetrain, throttle return, battery retention and lighting before each ride. No model-specific M1 manual appears in EKX's current US guide library, so the delivered manual must be reviewed before assembly or activation.

The 159 lb weight rules out normal bicycle handling. Plan a ramp, rated carrier or trailer, secure ground-level storage and enough workspace for service. Black and Gray are separate Shopify variants at the same approved StreetRides price.

Keep the serial number, carton and delivery-condition photos. StreetRides return policy governs the purchase. EKX's written warranty governs manufacturer coverage. Ask about M1-specific motor, controller, battery and brake parts before making the vehicle dependent on fast turnaround. It is also the hardest model to justify casually. The $4,899 price, 159 lb weight and 70 mph claim turn every ownership detail into a motor-vehicle decision. GTS X22 is the better value for open trails. M1 earns its place only when technical climbing and mid-drive balance matter enough to accept the cost.
